Well said as always, Andrew. To be honest, the solution of completely withdrawing from all American universities doesn’t quite sit well with me. Maybe it’s the fact that it would leave the “fast-lane to the highest echelons of social and economic success” to be utilized by enemies of the Jews. I think you focus more on providing American Jews with a viable alternative but don’t place enough focus on what will become of these advanced institutions that will ultimately lose its voice of reason.

Thanks Sam, it's a good point. I have thought quite a bit about the consequences for Israel vis a vis American support should Jews leave America, but I hadn't considered what would become of these institutions would Jews leave them. It gets me thinking about the role of Jews in the world. Are we meant to flourish as a single, particular people in our homeland, or be 'shluchim' around the globe, a light unto the nations? Are we meant to be the voices for reason in enemy territory, so to speak, or thrive on our own soil, and be a light from here? There's probably evidence for both. It's an interesting question, thanks for writing :)
